Need somewhere to relax and recharge your batteries? Just married and looking for the perfect honeymoon spot? Then choose one of three hideaways for world-weary Sims: Takemizu Village, Three Lakes, or Twikkii Island. Each offers unique amenities, including exotic meals, one-of-a-kind shopping and dining, guided tours, new abilities to learn, and precious mementos of your fun-filled trip. You might even uncover a rare object while digging for buried treasure, a new feature also available on a home or community lot.

Before you leave, make sure you’ve saved enough Simoleons not only for airfare, food, hotel, and incidentals, but also for a house sitter, as well as a babysitter or pet sitter, if necessary. And don’t forget that you can save up to 100 Simoleons by booking your travel up to six days in advance. Use the extra cash to buy some special souvenirs during your trip.

Plenty to Bring Home

Each of the three destinations features locals whose special greetings, dances, and other customs you can learn. You can befriend them, or other Sims also on vacation, and continue those relationships back home. (You might even discover that a certain giant hairy biped who lives in Three Lakes would like to move in with you. Don’t be turned off by his appearance; he has a lot to offer.)

A trip also brings with it special wants and fears that will affect your aspiration and/or skill points if they’re realized. In addition, a particularly enjoyable vacation offers, at its conclusion, a choice from six different rewards with 48-hour effects. For example, you might get an additional want slot and find yourself more productive.

Don’t forget to snap photos of all the fun. Bon Voyage lets you ask another Sim to assume a pose in front of a particular spot before clicking the shutter button. In Story Mode, arrange your photos and compose captions. You can even order prints to display on your wall or counter at home, so you’ll always remember your visit to Twikii Island’s South End Beach, where Bilious Bob the Pirate washed ashore during his search for the Monkey Ruins of Jumbok IV. Or so the story goes.

Build Your Own

If you’d rather create a unique Far Eastern, mountain, or island retreat to visit, simply choose from the new special lots and get to work. Design hotels, activities, tourist sights, and more. Customize beaches, woods, and gardens with the perfect accoutrements. Just don’t forget to provide enough accommodations, because your destination spot will likely attract other Sims.

You can also build custom vacation homes similar to the ones found at Takemizu Village, Three Lakes, and Twikkii Island, where they’re available for purchase by Sims with enough Simoleons. Then you’ll always have a comfortable place to stay when it’s time to get away from the stresses of Sim life.
