Berlin, May 20, 2015 ' Native Instrument today released KOMPLETE SELECT ' a premium selection of 10 KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects carefully chosen to give producers working in all genres a wide-ranging toolset for music creation. The release of KOMPLETE SELECT comes in tandem with the KOMPLETE KONTROL 1.1 software update, which opens the KOMPLETE KONTROL platform to all single KOMPLETE Instruments and provides a powerful new set of performance features. KOMPLETE SELECT is free for all registered KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboard owners, as well as all registered owners of the MASCHINE 2 software.

KOMPLETE SELECT includes 10 carefully selected KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects. Included in this suite are NI's best-selling synth MASSIVE, the new sampled piano instrument THE GENTLEMAN, the true-to-life analog synth emulation MONARK, and the first-of-its-kind acoustic/electronic drum hybrid DRUMLAB. RETRO MACHINES MK2 comprises over 20 pristinely sampled legendary vintage instruments from the 70s and 80s. VINTAGE ORGANS delivers high-quality recordings of classic organs. WEST AFRICA provides the sound traditional West African percussion, playable solo or as polyrhythmic ensembles from an intuitive pattern sequencer. KOMPLETE SELECT also features REAKTOR PRISM, SCARBEE MARK I, and SOLID BUS COMP. Together with a KOMPLETE KONTROL S-Series keyboard, this bundle provides a production-ready system out of the box. Furthermore, the KOMPLETE KONTROL software is also part of KOMPLETE SELECT. This means that all single KOMPLETE Instruments can now be controlled from an S-Series keyboard. S-Series keyboard owners also now qualify for special crossgrade pricing to NI's award-winning KOMPLETE 10 and KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE instrument and effect suites.

KOMPLETE SELECT also marks the release of the first KOMPLETE KONTROL software update. The recently-released KOMPLETE KONTROL 1.1 update expands the software with a host of powerful features. Improvements include the ability to route and record MIDI sequences created with KOMPLETE KONTROL's Smart Play functions freely within a DAW environment, as well as sending MIDI to outboard gear. An enhanced preset management system allows quick saving and recall of user presets from within the KOMPLETE KONTROL software. New Touch Kontrol functionality allows users to control more of the software directly from the keyboard, providing a more immersive hardware experience without the need to refer constantly to a computer screen.

Cinematic Studio Woodwinds is the latest addition to the Cinematic Studio Series collection. Whether you want to blow the roof off with the bright penetrating sound of the piccolo, express emotion with the beautiful lyrical oboe, or vibrate the floor with the deep and powerful bass clarinet, these superb instruments bring warmth and vitality to your orchestral template. They perfectly complement the rest of the series: the Strings, Solo Strings, Brass and Piano.

At the heart of Cinematic Studio Woodwinds is its intuitive and efficient GUI. This means one patch per instrument, easily assignable keyswitches and MIDI CCs, and a full mixer with output routing options plus reverb. To save memory, articulations can be loaded in or out of RAM with a couple of clicks. As the layout is functionally the same as for Cinematic Studio Strings and Brass, these features and many others are all accessible via the main GUI page.

To record Cinematic Studio Woodwinds we used a marvellous selection of top-tier players to capture the full range and character of each of nine solo instruments and four sections. Whether you want the fine detail of a soloist, or the warm collaborative synergy of our two-player sections, we recorded the full dynamic range to harness both nuance and power. Every instrument was treated equally, including the piccolo, cor anglais, alto flute, bass clarinet and contrabassoon.

CSW features a range of articulations including playful short notes, expansive textures with flutter-tongue and trills, and a stunningly realistic legato engine. We spent countless hours recording true long-form legato transitions for each note, resulting in unparalleled realism. Because we’ve kept an authentic, human element in the sound you’ll feel like you’re in the room with the players. Every sample was tuned by ear, and carefully edited and programmed to ensure a delicate balance between consistency, playability and realism.

We used a variety of beautiful ribbon and condenser microphones to record Cinematic Studio Woodwinds at four mic distances: Close, Overhead, Main and Room, which you can combine to create your own mix inside Kontakt or via the output-routing option. Alternatively, you can use our ready-to-go mix position that contains all four mics in a stereo mix if you want a great sound with fewer resources. A Full Ensemble patch will be released as an update in the near future.

Cinematic Studio Woodwinds is fully compatible with the free Kontakt Player, and will work as a standalone product with no need to purchase additional software. Kontakt Player is available as a separate download from Native Instruments and can be downloaded free of charge by clicking here, along with the Komplete Start free bundle with 2,000 sounds and 6 GB of content. All of our libraries run inside the Kontakt sampler (full or free version), and therefore you require a good understanding of how Kontakt works before purchasing any of our libraries. Usually Kontakt is run as a plugin within a DAW such as Cubase or Logic (it runs inside all major DAWs). If you are new to Kontakt you can download the free version (Kontakt Player) here: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-6-player/. Just download “Komplete Start” and you will get instructions for installing Kontakt Player as well as factory library with 2,000 sounds and 6 GB of content. This is a great way to familiarise yourself with the platform, and once you’re comfortable with how Kontakt integrates into your setup, using our libraries should be a straightforward progression from there.

You should be comfortable with MIDI sequencing and editing, and although our libraries work without a MIDI keyboard, we thoroughly recommend using one. We are a small team and I’m afraid that while we support our products we cannot provide MIDI tutorials and tech support for Kontakt, various DAWs etc. Please inquire via the Support button if you’d like any further clarification – prior to purchase.

Latency / Delay: All of the libraries in the Cinematic Studio Series have been designed to maximise realism, especially when playing legato. To achieve this, we incorporated a delay system, whereby each new note you play in a legato phrase will be delayed by up to around 1/4 of a second. This requires practising playing your melodies slightly ahead of the beat, which will become natural after a short while. We feel that it’s worth the effort; this is a fundamental aspect of the library, and will not be changed.

Tuning: Throughout the entire production process of every library we create, great care has been taken to make sure the tuning of each instrument is as realistic as possible. To do this, we left much of the natural performance of each instrument intact. While auto-tuning is always an easy option, we opted instead to tune the entire library manually, by ear, rather than stick rigidly to perfect tuning. It is this focus on realism, combined with simplicity, that makes our libraries stand out from the crowd.
